We know of work-arounds like clamdownloader.pl. (I've been tempted to throw together my own work-around, using some curl commands.) But we don't want to hack something together to make up for Clam AV's deficiencies. We want freshclam to *just work* when using a private mirror, without taking the massive performance hit of being forced to disable ScriptedUpdates on the mirror. For years, that simply hasn't been possible. Now, finally, it *seems* to be possible, using the PrivateMirror option... but the PrivateMirror implementation is either badly broken, or functions in a manner radically different from what its description states. To repeat, we're very grateful for all of the hard work of the Clam AV developers.
