I did delete mirrors.dat and daily.cld and re-started freshclam with
setting database.clamav.net in /etc/freshclam.conf, with the same
result: "not found"
The whole mirror system doesn't seem to work, as it is not checking
any other server than db.se.clamav.net, which is the "local" in my
case.
Luckily, using db.uk.calmav.net does work, so I keep it this way and
will check regularly if database.clamav.net is working again.

Have you tried the suggestion yet?
If so, then your solution to temporarily change the default mirror to
db.uk.clamav.net should work.
