Hi,

I just installed the latest version of clamAV - haven't used it so far.
So, on a side note, are there resources how to get started
specifically on Windows? Can clamd installed as a service? Should it
be installed like that?

There is one problem, I came immediately across. The installer
installs all files into c:\programme, which is my local folder for
"program files". It doesn't ask where to put the files. However, it
doesn't work from this location - I always get this error:
LibClamAV Error: cl_loaddbdir(): Can't get status of C:\Program
Files\clamAV\data
ERROR: Input/Output error

readme.txt states that:
If you get the message
LibClamAV Error: cl_loaddbdir(): Can't get status of
C:\Program Files\clamAV\data
it means that the files main.cvd and daily.cvd are not in
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\ClamAV.

Unfortunately, it doesn't help to put the cvd files there. Instead,
the whole program folder has to be moved to c:\program files, which is
not very convenient to do, nor is it nice to have an additional
program files folder.
BTW, simply editing the conf files had not helped too.

So please - do not hard code paths! Either let them be configurable or
use Windows API SHGetFolderLocation a.s.o.

Thanks!
 Ulf
