Suggest Looking at Rosseau's newer methods for Clustering such as Fanny, Daisy. A web search will find the reference papers or his book, "Find Groups In Data", Introduction to Cluster Analysis, Rosseau and Kauffman. More up todaye than the book you cited. Good luck. :)
