A) A Post-Doc position in Computational Intelligence at DISI- Univ. of Genoa (Italy) http://www.disi.unige.it/person/MasulliF/ricerca/Post-Doc-in%20Genoa.html
A two-years funded Post-Doc position in Computational Intelligence at is available at DISI - University of Genoa, (Italy). The deadline for application is Sept 10th 2012 and the fellowship should start in Nov 2012. Project title: Machine learning methods for the discrimination of patient's status. Research activity: The project, in collaboration among University of Genova, Fondazione Don Gnocchi and CAP company, is aimed at the clinical evaluation of a non-hospital population of patients with Congestive Heart Failure by classification and regression methods. The research involves: (a) concentration of measured and computed biomedical data (including weight, body mass, heart rate, physical activity) and their time stamps; (b) development of algorithms for classification and regression to discriminate the state of the patient, including critical situations of alarm, and the multidimensional trends characteristic of both the individual patient, and classes of patients with similar diseases; (c) development of a support decision system based on fuzzy rules able, for example, to suggest examinations in hospital, and explaining the reasons of suggestions. The activity will be held at the premises of the University of Genoa and of the project partners. Required qualification: PhD and/or Master in Computer Science, Electronics, Bio-Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics. The research activity is focused on Ambient Assisted Living following a Computational Intelligence approach. We are looking for a self-motivated candidate, interested in the mathematical aspects of his research, in the development of new methods for intelligent data analysis, and in technology transfer, and skilled in programming and in thorough experimental data analysis. Candidates are invited to send ASAP their cv, letter of motivation, and the name/email-addresses of some referees to [email protected] ============================================== B) PhD positions in Genova at DISI- Univ. of Genoa (Italy) http://www.disi.unige.it/person/MasulliF/ricerca/PhDinGenova.html The call for some funded positions for the 3 years PhD studies in Computer Science at DISI in Genova (see http://www.disi.unige.it/dottorato/) is available at http://www.studenti.unige.it/postlaurea/dottorati/xxviiiciclo/bandogeneraleEN . The deadline for application is Sept 21th, 2012 and the PhD courses and fellowships should start on Jan 2013. More info are at http://www.disi.unige.it/dottorato/. The DISI's research group on Soft computing and Machine Learning is working on many projects on Computational Intelligence, Machine Learning, Bioinformatics and Ambient Assisted Living, as described at http://www.disi.unige.it/person/MasulliF/ricerca/index.html, and is looking for a PhD candidate self-motivated, interested to the mathematical aspects of his research and to the development of new algorithms for intelligent data analysis, and skilled in programming and in thorough experimental data analysis. Requested qualification: master in Computer Sciences, Mathematics, Physics or Engineering. The new PhD student will a member of the Soft computing and Machine Learning group and will collaborate to its research projects and publications. Students interested in this PhD position are invited to send A.S.A.P. their cv and the name/email-address of 3 referees to Prof. Francesco Masulli at [email protected] ===================================================== C) Two pre-doctoral fellowships in Ambient Assisted Living at DISI-Genova (Italy) http://www.disi.unige.it/person/MasulliF/ricerca/Pre-doctoral-inGenoa.html The call for two pre-doctoral fellowships funded by Hospital E.O. Galliera of 4 months each for students interested to apply to the PhD programs in Computer Science or in Computational Intelligence of the University of Genova will be available in July 2012. The deadline for applications will be in August 2012 and the two fellowships should start in September 2012. If the fellowship holder will be admitted to the PhD (application deadline on Sept. 2012), his/her activity will continue as a PhD student from Jan. 2013 (with possible doctoral fellowship). The research activity will be part of the project "Machine Learning methods applied to an experiment in Ambient Assisted Living at the Special Unit for Dementia of RSA Galliera" (see link) that is aimed at the intelligent analysis of behavior on the basis of sensed data obtined from the interaction of the individual with the assistive environment. Sensors of various kinds (e.g., ultra-sound, RFID, video, blood pressure, temperature) will be installed in the pilot plant (the Special Unit for dementia of the Galliera Hospital in Genoa-Italy); data will be concentrated, mined using Machine Learning and Computational Intelligence methods, and made available to the medical and paramedic staff interactivelity on video screens, tablets and smart phones. The expected results of the project are: (a) allowing the real- time monitoring of the health of the subject; (b) increasing the security; (c) optimizing the work of the paramedical staff. Fellowship #1 Title: Sensors and alarms Research activity: Interfacing of sensors with the system software, and detection of alarm situation. Collaboration to the installation of the sensors and the system software in the pilot plant. Fellowship #2 Title: System Software Research activity: Development of user interface, of data concentrator, and of data mining methods. Collaboration to the installation of the sensors and the system software in the pilot plant. Required qualification for both positions: Master and/or Bachelor in Computer Science, Electronics, Bio-Engineering, or Physics. Students interested to those fellowships and to apply to the PhD programs in Computer Science or in Computational Intelligence at the University of Genova are invited to send their cv and the name/email-addresses of some referees to my email address [email protected] A.S.A.P. ================================================== ---------------------------------------------- CLASS-L list.
