4. It's much easier to track new bugs when you have an ordered list of
changes
5. It provides attribution of changes, that is lost if you install a
patch for someone else, and is not stored in the logs in some CVS
server configurations.
BTW, where is the current CVS server? I've been away for a while, and
I can't seem to access the sources any more.
