Yes.

The translators work with PO files.  I've yet to determine (mainly due
to lack of time), if either directly supporting PO files or writing a
translator is the best way to go.  See the documentation that comes
with GNU gettext for more information on PO files.

Ironically, Sun uses PO files for Solaris.  Of course Sun didn't do
the i18n support in Java 1.1.  *sigh*
