This framework should provide a JVM and
an Open Source implementation of the "set of essential libraries for
supporting the Java(tm) language".
We're already working on these libraries, in the GNU Classpath
project. Can you join in and do a part of that job, rather than
duplicating the effort we have already done?
In addition, there are already two free working JVM's--is it truly
useful to develop another one?
If this sounds interesting to you, we would be glad to invite one of the
developers of classpath.org at the first ExoLab Session to be held in
Nantes (France) from May 24 to May 28.
I could conceivably be there for one or two of those days. I am
supposed to go to Turkey for an event starting May 28, so *maybe* I
could be in Nantes on May 26. It would make my travel plans
somewhat tight, though. I would have to go to France on May 25.
But it might actually be more useful to have one of the main
GNU Classpath developers attend, so you can make technical plans
together with them. Probably either Paul Fisher or Aaron Renn.
If I attend, it would be crucial for me to make it clear that I am
part of the Free Software movement rather than the Open Source
movement. The Free Software movement needs vitally to avoid becoming
ineffective through being confused with the Open Source movement.
