pserver will be turned off on cvs.gnu.org within the next couple of weeks. Everyone with write access needs to install kerberos -- preferably version 5. The new CVSROOT is :ext:cvs.gnu.org:/gd/gnu/cvsroot. If you're using krb5, just make sure that krb5's rsh is in your path before your operating system's copy of rsh.
