The problem right now is that the latest Japhar release does not
support Classpath due to bugs. This is fixed in CVS, but I'd rather
not make a release until Toshok and Co. put out another Japhar.

I don't think there has been. The main problem with EF IMO is their
build system. It is very cumbersome. Given that I've done no real
investigation of the EF source, I'm engaging in pure speculation here.
But it seems to me what they need is to eliminate their dependency
on the NSPR system, then add JNI method call and get/set support,
then get a good autoconf/automake setup going. At that point, I'd
be in a much better position to add Classpath support. Right now
I don't have the time to do that hacking that's needed to get that
into shape.

That serialization shakedown would be a good thing. Writing Mauve
tests and debugging java.util would be good. (I can't recall if there
are any existing tests).
I case anyone is curious, I'm still plowing through the AWT stuff.
I was actually able to make a GTK window pop up. Once. There's still
a lot of classes to write but I don't think most of them will be
hard. Anyone who feels like taking a crack at getting this stuff
working can feel free to pull the CVS and hack away.
