I like your solution better than the one we have got so far, simply
because it is simpler and possibly faster. Can anyone think of any
objections?

Kaffe is #2 on the list. Once the porting mechanism is stable, we'll
talk to them about putting in Classpath hooks in place of their own. My
best hope is that their class developers will come over here so the
Kaffe people can concentrate on making their VM kick ass, and the free
software community doesn't splinter its resources.
