I'm forwarding the message below from the debian-hurd list. It contains a link to the release criteria for gcc-3.0. There are a number of Java elements there, including library integration into the main gcc tree (I assume this will be the existing libgcj, at least if you want to release gcc anytime soon). Just forwarding this so you can see that Java is becoming more and more a real part of gcc.
