Welcome. Seems like a nice internship.

Great. Since my native language is not English I am sure you will find all
kinds of embarrassing mistakes in my comments :) Documenting everything
is the most boring and time intensive work, so if you want to check all
documentation that would be very welcomed.

Please look at the TODO file in CVS if you haven't done that yet.

I was just making a list of small things added in 1.3 that could be done.
If you want to do any of these please yell:
- Add new Collections thingies from 1.3
  <http://java.sun.com/products/jdk/1.3/docs/guide/collections/changes3.html>
- Look at new Network thingies from 1.3
  <http://java.sun.com/products/jdk/1.3/docs/guide/net/enhancements.html>
- Shutdown hooks
  <http://java.sun.com/products/jdk/1.3/docs/guide/lang/hook-design.html>
  (Needs VM support)
- Dynamic Proxy Classes
  <http://java.sun.com/products/jdk/1.3/docs/guide/reflection/proxy.html>
Or any of the things mentioned on the 1.3 new features page that are not yet
in Classpath: <http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/docs/relnotes/features.html>

Although it would also be very helpfull if someone goes over all the 1.1
things to see if everything is implemented in Classpath before we move on
to all these new nice 1.2 and 1.3 things by checking the 1.1 classlist:
<http://java.sun.com/products/jdk/1.1/docs/relnotes/classlist.html>
And integrating the classpath classes and the libgcj classes also has high
priority. See <http://sourceware.cygnus.com/java/merge-status.html>
and <http://www.mail-archive.com/classpath%40gnu.org/msg02267.html>.

But please work on something that you really like and feel you can be
productive in.

I am not sure who arranges this. Normally someone has to check that all
the right papers have been filed with the FSF. But if you want to commit
something while you don't have commit access yet please feel free to
post it to the list and someone will commit it for you.

I am also pretty new but found out that people are generally nice
about anything. The only thing you have to realize is that not everybody
has that much time so it might sometimes take a couple of days before
you get an answer. And normally the social rules should be documented
on the webpages. If they aren't then they should be added to make
live easier for new people like yourself. So if you find out something that
seems to be common knowledge, but you didn't know about it, please document.

Have fun,

Mark
