This may be very old news, but has anybody looked at this? http://www.jcraft.com/jzlib/ http://freshmeat.net/releases/45095/ 0.0.3 is not an encouraging sign, but I would prfer a pure Java implementation of java.util.zip/jar. Looks like it is vanilla LGPL, but maybe we could work a deal. Different licensing terms in return for additional development support, for example. I think we should try to do a better job in terms of leveraging third party libraries where possible. -- Aaron M.
