configure & errors

Hi all,
    well, checked out a classpath tree and it bombs out on me in configure:

 ./configure --with-javah=/usr/local/bin/javah

<checking bla deleted>

configure: error: conditional "USER_SPECIFIED_JAVAH" was never defined.
Usually this means the macro was only invoked conditionally.

removing the --with-javah doesn't help.
What am i doing wrong ?
