Help with JDK 1.4

Hello all,

I am brand new to this mailing list. On the gnu.org website [http://savannah.gnu.org/pm/task.php?group_project_id=12&group_id=85&func=browse], I saw an open item for updating the java.lang package to JDK 1.4. I would like to help. What is the best way for me to go about doing this?
