If you just want to *use* Sun's javac compiler from JDK 1.5 then just set the -source and -target values appropriately.
Sun is planning to ship the release candidate in August with final release on September 30. By the way the marketing folk have got back in on the act - the new Tiger release will be known as release 5.0.
