I will note here that much of Mark's trouble was because Jikes RVM's select() and poll() hijacking fail when RVM_FOR_SINGLE_VIRTUAL_PROCESSOR is set. We had an IRC chat yesterday and Eclipse 2.1.2 now works for him. Eclipse 3.0 will require some additional implementation work on Jikes RVM.
