I think the major reason is simply that it wouldn't be honest.

Java is a marketing label that Sun puts on some of their technologies. It was a brand name for Sun's GNU/Linux distribution last time I checked. Neither gcj nor Classpath are GNU/Linux distros. So there is no point in calling them that. :)
