I have the same problem with cairo 0.3.0 (-Dgnu.java.awt.peer.gtk.Graphics=Graphics2D) and the new code. Fonts are fine without using Graphics2D. Maybe Graydon knows what fonts things changed recently that could cause no text to be drawn at all? Cheers, Mark
