I also opened a TAC case about this. We had to creat a custom check.

Check Category: File Check
Check Type: File Date
File Path: SYSTEM_PROGRAMS \AVG\AVG8\updatecomps.cfg
Operator: later than
File Date: CAM Date - (however old you will allow the definition files
to be, i.e. 3 for 3 days) File Data Type: Modification Date Operating
System: your choice

This was the solution we went with. As of the last 3 days, all has been 
well. My engineer also stated that support for this software will be on the 
upgrade slated for this summer, pending the results of development testing.
