I exchanged email with Eric Boutilier about how to best cross-post with non-OpenSolaris mailing lists without subjecting non-OpenSolaris list members to bounce-o-grams from the OpenSolaris mail server.
The least bad approach he suggested was to add the people we anticipated would reply to the "accept_these_nonmembers" filter on the clearview-discuss administrative interface. I've done that (trying to guess who would reply based on the posting history in the tcpdump-workers mail archives.) The best approach would be to stop blocking messages to the list and install decent SPAM filters on the mail server. This isn't possible yet as there are not yet any good SPAM filters for OpenSolaris lists... Anyway, now we have the opposite problem. tcpdump-workers at lists.tcpdump.org is also a "only subscribers can post" list, so folks on the Clearview project who wish to participate in the discussion with the tcpdump-workers folks will need to go subscribe: http://www.tcpdump.org/ Scroll down to the "Mailing lists" section. -Seb
