-------- Original Message -------- Subject: Re: [clearview-discuss] IP Tunnel Device Driver document Hi Seb, Thanks again for this. This is great stuff, and I was able to put in a lot of the details that you pointed out. Can you help me with a couple of points: Sebastien Roy wrote On 09/27/06 14:51,: > 4.1 Introduction > > * "Instead, you configure boundary relay routers to become 6to4 routers". > I'd steer clear of the term "relay router" here, as that has an entirely > different meaning in a 6to4 context. > ==> The 6to4 section is the one that I had to struggle with. I basically took the current doc as basis and then put in where I thought the Clearview stuff about IP tunnel should go in. For some time now, the current doc has had the term "relay routers" when describing 6to4 tunnels. So I just thought that that was an accurate term to use. If this opens up the possibility of confusing the audience, what would be a more appropriate term? Would it be just as correct to simply say, "Instead, you configure 6to4 tunnels"? > > > 4.2 Procedure > > * Step 2: What is <IPv6>? That is not part of the dladm syntax... As the explanation of the option went on to sya, it is the *IPv6 address* that is assigned to the IPv6 interface on the 6to4 tunnel. The draft continues to explain that that address would have the following format: 2002:<IPv4-address>:<subnet-ID>:<interface-ID>:/64 Would <IPv6 address> be a better term than just plain <IPv6>? > * Step 4 is incorrect. What do you mean by "pseudo-interface"? ==> Here, I again took off from what the docs are already saying. This term is in the current book/doc. I have yet to find what would be a good replacement for that word. Suggestions are most certainly welcome. > > * Step 5: That output doesn't look right. I just used what is current in the doc. All of this indicates to me that even without Clearview, the doc would need to be corrected just the same. because of some misleading or incorrect statements as you had pointed out.
