Alan,

It's great to hear that you've got this working on Virtualbox!

On the "ubuntu" user point, yes we require there to be an ubuntu user. I
thought this was documented at
https://github.com/Metaswitch/clearwater-docs/wiki/Manual%20Install, but I now
can't find it - I'll investigate further and make sure that it's clear. Your
workaround seems safe - the change is just to change the bash prompt to make it
clear which node type you're running on.

On the monit failures, do you have the text of the error message? mmonit (with
2 m's) is optional but monit is not - mmonit is a server that allows you to see
the status of all your monit-controlled instances. I have seen error messages
from monit when the mmonit_username and/or mmonit_password fields are blank -
it tries to communicate with the mmonit server but complains that these fields
have not been provided. Might this be the case here? Our documentation is not
clear that these fields need to be provided even if mmonit is not in use - I'll
look at either relaxing this restriction (if it's not too difficult) or
improving the documentation.

Matt

Subject: [Clearwater] Installing on Virtualbox

I'm working to get Clearwater working on VirtualBox. For the most part I have
everything working but have two issues that I would like to point out and get
thoughts from the group.

First is that when installing Clearwater, package clearwater-infrastructure
will fail due to /home/ubuntu not being created. Seems one of the scripts
writes to /home/ubuntu/.bashrc but as a standard install from ISO does not have
a user ubuntu, unless that is what you build when you installed it, this fails.
Should the servers be built with a user named ubuntu, or is this something
that should be changed in the install script? My work around was to create the
directory before install.

Second is I get a lot of failures about monit. They don't seem to cause an
issue, but I don't like the failures. I haven't figured out why its failing yet
and would like any suggestions anyone has on it. From what I can read monit is
optional and really would just not have it around.

Thoughts

Alan
