Hi Glenn,

We don't support the topology that you've described below (where you have both
an SBC and Bono).

If your SBC can act as a P-CSCF then you can bypass Bono. Note that you may
lose function doing this - e.g. Bono supports WebRTC and the NAT support may
differ.

If you do bypass Bono then you will need to make sure that Sprout will accept
requests from your SBC. You will also need to set the parameter 'scscf_uri' on
sprout (in /etc/clearwater/config) to a value that the SBC can resolve to the
S-CSCF (e.g. <Sprout's IP address>:5054).

Incidentally, we need the Service-Route header for cases where there are
multiple S-CSCFs in a deployment, where only one is the Clearwater S-CSCF. If
the deployment only has a Clearwater S-CSCF then as you say it isn't needed.

Subject: [Clearwater] Sprout Service-Route

Hello

We are doing some testing with an access provider and cannot originate calls
from the access network. The access provider has an SBC that also includes some
routing functionality. This SBC connects to our bono node by IP address. The
SBC does not do DNS name resolution.

Our understanding is that the user agents are populating Route headers in
invites with the content of the Service-Route. The Service-Route is <
sip:sprout@domain:5054;transport=TCP;lr;orig>. The SBC is then trying to route
the invite to sprout which fails firstly because it cannot resolve the name and
even if it could would not be trusted by sprout.

Can the Service-Route header be removed from the 200(Register)? I would of
thought that with the horizontal scaling that Clearwater uses that there would
be no need to use this header.

If the Service-Route header is required then can it also include the bono node
first? For example:

Service-Route: <sip:<bono pulic ip>;lr>,
                <sip:sprout@domain:5054;lr>

Regards
