Ok, but I thought the .ova appliance would be fully functioning…

In any case, I start a fresh appliance go to http://localhost:8080 and I see
the Ellis web interface. I signup a new user.
The dashboard gets stuck with a message "Please wait, loading"

I checked the logs:

In /var/log/ellis-0.log I see a :

Homestead at http://10.0.2.15:8889/ping. Have you configured your HOMESTEAD_URL?

After doing : service homestead restart it looks like it can ping it.

In /var/log/homestead-prov/homestead-prov-0.log I have

The only port forwarded in the vbox settings are 80, 5060 and 22

But when I check the Addressbook in the ellis UI, no users are displayed.

Strangely I do not see the "Failed to update Server anymore"

but the users have been created in the db:

I am at a bit of a loss here, as I cannot reproduce my own error :)
