Hi Rashid, Could you send the output of `aptitude show clearwater-cluster-manager`? I’m wondering if installation failed somehow.
I’ve raised https://github.com/Metaswitch/clearwater-cassandra/issues/95 to cover the misleading ‘Cassandra is not installed yet’ log. I run the installation following the instructions at http://clearwater.readthedocs.org/en/stable/Manual_Install.html. So I can confirm that I had run the command sudo DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive apt-get install clearwater-management --yes Looking at you response, I have realised that if I change the order in which I run the commands, i.e. if I start by running "sudo DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive apt-get install clearwater-management --yes" and then "sudo DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive apt-get install homer --yes", I am able to avoid the "TCP poll failed to 127.0.0.1 9160 . . . . ." errors, and the installation completes much faster. However, at the end of the installation, restarting clearwater still fails, showing that cassandra is no installed, yet I am sure I saw logs during the installation showing that it had been installed. Somehow homer fails to find! * Restarting clearwater-infrastructure clearwater-infrastructure No process matching value from pidfile: 9831 Cassandra is not installed yet, skipping schema addition for now Configuring monit for only localhost access Moreover, again the folder /var/log/homer still does not exist. In addition all the three files you specified in your email do NOT exists Regards, Rashid On 18 April 2016 at 15:22, Robert Day (projectclearwater.org<http://projectclearwater.org>) <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> wrote: Hi Rashid, Thanks for sending a good set of diagnostics here – they’re very useful! Looking at the ‘monit status’ output you sent, I don’t see an entry for clearwater-cluster-manager. We recently made a change to have clearwater-cluster-manager generate the /etc/cassandra/cassandra.yaml file with the correct clustering settings we need in Clearwater – until this happens, that file won’t exist and Cassandra won’t start. It looks like you might not have run the `sudo DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive apt-get install clearwater-management –yes` command, documented at http://clearwater.readthedocs.org/en/stable/Manual_Install.html as part of installing Homer. Could you try running that command and seeing if that resolves the issue? If that doesn’t help, it would be useful to see: • The clearwater-etcd log in /var/log/clearwater-etcd • The clearwater-cluster-manager logs in /var/log/clearwater-cluster-manager • The contents of /etc/cassandra/cassandra.yaml, if that file exists Best, Rob From: Clearwater [mailto:[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>] On Behalf Of Rashid Mijumbi Sent: 16 April 2016 11:14 To: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> Subject: [Project Clearwater] Cassandra Problems While Installing Homer and Homestead Hi All, My manual installation is failing while installing Homer and Homestead. The problem seems to be from either cassandra failing to start, or refusing connections. During the Installation, I get series of the error: TCP poll failed to 127.0.0.1 9160 nc: connect to 127.0.0.1 port 9160 (tcp) failed: Connection refused Failed to connect to '127.0.0.1:7199<http://127.0.0.1:7199>': Connection refused for some time, until it gives up and gives the error: Cassandra isn't responsive, unable to add schemas Configuring monit for only localhost access Installation continues to the end, but an attempt to restart clearwater at the end of installation gives the error: * Restarting clearwater-infrastructure clearwater-infrastructure Cassandra is not installed yet, skipping schema addition for now Configuring monit for only localhost access [ OK ] Cassandra is not installed yet, skipping schema addition for now The folder /var/log/homer does not exists implying that homer is not starting. I attach some system files that could be important in knowing whats going wrong. Regards, Rashid
