Hi Ravi,

Thank you for your question.

The majority of the DNS requests that are required for a registration are done
by the Clearwater VMs. There is only one DNS request that the external clients
in Scenario B will need to do: if you have provided your Zoiper client with a
hostname for the outbound proxy (which in this case will be the Bono node) the
client will have to resolve this to send the register messages to Bono. This
means that you may be able to fix this issue by either:

a) including a DNS record that resolves Bono’s hostname on the rc1.com DNS
server used by the clients in Scenario B

or

b) configuring Zoiper with an IP address for the Outbound proxy

Can you try these and see if registrations start working?

If you still cannot register subscribers the issue will likely be with Bono
either not receiving the register messages or not forwarding them on to the
Sprout node properly. If this is the case could you please provide logs from
both Bono and Sprout so we can determine what is happening here.

Thanks,

Andrew

Subject: [Project Clearwater] CW Issue, while registering numbers (using Zoiper
client)

Greetings CW Community,

We have deployed multinode clearwater on openstack. Testing following two
scenarios:

Scenario A:

  1. Deployed OpenStack and installed all the 6 VM's of ClearWater
  2. Establishing a call from Windows VM 1 to VM 2 in same DNS
(cw1.com<http://cw1.com>), using Zoiper client
  3. This scenario is working fine and we are able to generate and register
numbers in Zoiper and henceforth establishing a call successfully

Scenario B:

  1. Using the CW setup as described in Scenario (A), step (1)
  2. Now, we need to establish a call between two machines that are in
centralized DNS [Windows Ext1 & Windows Ext2]
  3. For this we are using a centralized DNS (rc1.com<http://rc1.com>) [which
serves for all the external machines]

     * We have used two external Windows machines [Windows Ext1 & Windows
Ext2] which have rc1.com<http://rc1.com> as primary DNS
     * We are able to ping all the Clearwater VM's from these external Window
client machines
     * "nslookup" is also able to resolve all the clearwater VM's FQDNs {FYI:
We have added all the 6 Clearwater VM IPs and FQDNs in the centralized DNS
(rc1.com<http://rc1.com>)}
For Scenario B, we are not able to register the numbers on the Zoiper Client
Can you please help us in this issue?
Please let us know, if you need access to some specific logs.

Regards,
Ravi C
