I can't really reply since I use NFS rather than SMB, but it works for me mounting the (raided) NAS drives to my linux box. The 'it works for me' responses aren't that helpful normally. :-) (the NAS is a Synology DS415Play, shared via NFS to a Ubuntu desktop. Listening to it right now.)
