I'm working on setting up a music server for the house using Clementine on
a Raspberry Pi3.

One key functionality is that it needs to be operable using the Android app.

There have been hurdles, in that the official repository for the RPI 3 only
contains an older version of Clementine (1.2.something) that doesn't work
with the mobile app. I've managed to work around that and get 1.3.1
installed and running.

Using the UI on the RPI, almost everything works great. I've imported my
local library, imported and cleaned up playlists, etc - I can do pretty
much anything I want to do if I open up a VNC window into the device and
use it's interface there (except Spotify, which is a different issue I've
posted on....)

Now, I seem to be facing two hurdles...

1) Internet Radio Streams work fine on the UI, but do not show up on the
app. Of course I'd like to be able to start a radio stream using the app.
There is a work around on this, by creating the stream as a playlist.
I've done that and it works for some streams, not for others. I have no
idea why some streams (like KCRW Santa Monica, for example) work as
"Internet Radio Streams" but not if I use the exact same URL in a playlist
(get an error "this appears to be a text file" even though the playlist
format is identical to other streams that DO work except for the URL...)
This is not a show-stopper since it only affects a very small number of
the streaming URL's I have, but it would be nice if the app just showed
"internet radio streams" as an option so no work-around was needed.

Here's a sample, this one works as a radio stream but not as a playlist...

2) The only playlists that show in the App (when I choose "playlists") are
ones that show open tabs in the UI. I've imported my playlists and they
all show when I click on the "playlists" menu item (on the far left), I can
play them fine, however none are shown in the app until I open tabs for
them - whether I'm actually playing them at the time or not. If that's
"normal behavior", fine, but it would be nice if there were then a way to
"open all playlists" on load, just so if I reboot the machine I don't have
to do that every time...

Am I doing something wrong in either or is that just the way it is at the
moment?

Thanks,

Todd
