You can search for them but if you don't have them in your library they
won't show a result.

One thing you could do is right click a track -- edit track info --
edit tags. And then create your own tags (myfavouritejazz)(goodjazz)
etc
then when you type myfavouritejazz into the search arena it will only
find those.

A fair amount of work to sort them out but it will get you results

Shouldn't happen - possibly dependent on memory availablity and the
number of tracks in the database. I can happily drop 20,000 tracks into
a playlist, might take most of a year to play them though ;)

I dont think so but you don't have to select them all, use shift click
and/or control click to limit them.
