I'm on Xubuntu using clementine. I installed a package called playerctl.
This command can monitor the current playing stream and has the ability to
print out all sorts of info from the running music player including the
Album, Artist, Song Title, Composer, Genre, Year, Rating, etc. Here are a
couple of examples:
playerctl metadata --format "{{xesam:title}}"
playerctl metadata --format "{{xesam:album}}"
playerctl metadata --format "{{xesam:title}}"
playerctl metadata --format "{{rating}}"
I used this to write a program that displays current playing info in a
little window on my screen. You could use it to create your running log.
