I came to clementine recently but have effectively (for me) solved this
problem in the following way:

I organize all my mp3 files in directories (one per CD or LP) and tag them
with the composer
(id3v2 --TCOM <composer name>). Note that I am linux based. For ethnic
music ("World"),
I tag the country or ethnic group with the language tag (id3v3 --TLAN).
Other tags are available
to specify the lead performer (TPE1), orchestra(TPE2), and conductor
(TPE3). I have written a
small program which can create a m3u playlist file for each group of mp3s
(usually an LP or CD),
using the mp3 tags to create the m3u file name. The first word in the m3u
file name is the
Composer or Country (or Artist, if neither is specified). These end up
alphabetically organized
in a single directory, which is where clementine displays as the music
collection in the left hand
panel. Selecting anm3u file loads the listed mp3 files in clementine's
playlist.
