Two things you need to do for clearing up this problem. 1) Go into preferences and then Music Library. Under the area labelled Automatic updating uncheck the option "Update the library when Clemetine starts". From there anytime you need to update your library simply go into the tools menu option on the taskbar and click on "Do a Full Library Rescan". This will alllow you full control of choosing when you want your library to be updated instead of an automatic default.
2) The most common reason you are getting the message "no music in the library" after an automatic start up library scan by Clementine is that you have your library location on a different partition than the Mint 20 operating system. When booting up into Mint 20 and after logging in to the operating system you need to open up a file manager/browser and go to the partition where the music library is located. You will find this partition is locked and you will need to use your administrative password to open up that partition. After going through this procedure you should find your library information located properly. In some older Linux operating systems and/or Clementine Music Player once you open Clementine and it automatically starts to look for your library according to your settings that it is pointed towards if that partition is locked it will loose that location permanently and you will need to remove the locations that are labelled in the Music Library "These Folders will be scanned for music to make up your library" area and reenter a pointer location. On newer versions though once you unlock the partition the player will pick up your library properly again. If you are used to a Windows operating system this might throw you off since Windows does not by default lock you out of other partitions that are fat32 or ntfs formatted, although Windows does not even recognize a Linux ext2,3, or 4 partition and leaves you unable to open any of those partitions without a special application to bypass this problem. Whether the partition where your library is located is fat32, ext, or ntfs, with a Linux operating system like Mint you need to unlock that partition before Clementine will recognize your music library if it has been set up to pick up the library at such a location. You can avoid this hassle by placing your music library in the Mint operating system Music folder. This might cause a memory issue problem if you have a computer with two or more operating systems since this would involve placing the same music library in a folder within each operating system using up a lot more memory. Having a library centrally located on a fat32 formatted partition would conserve on memory usage and make the library accessible among all the operating systems on your computer. So long as you remember to unlock that music library partition before opening any media players you will not have this problem of your library not being recognized.
