Yes, if I add the folder (nfs share from the nas that also runs the 
subsonic container) to the library it works. 
What I wanted to originally do was to have the local music folders added in 
the settings>content and the subsonic server in it's section and then have 
a combined library that shows the local music aswell as the one from 
subsonic. In my case I have the ability to create an nfs share for the 
client, but for example my imaginary friends that also want to merge my 
subsonic music with their local library would not have the ability to 
create the share for themselves. 

As far as I was able to check this feature does not exist for Clementine.
