Couldn't this lead to a quite chaotic situations with some images having
thumbnails and other not depending only on whether a user with content-graph
write permissions happened to request a page containing them?
Rather than working with side-effects on GET-requests I'd rather suggest to
implemenet a service to generate mising alternative representations for
existing resources, if needed with some more expressive way to specify which
resources need which alternative representations.
