Hi,

A few weeks ago there was a conference in Paris, that Reto attended and
where I gave a paper entitled "Philosophy and the Social Web". I spent some
time putting together the feedback from the conference and published a
Slidecast with audio

   http://www.slideshare.net/bblfish/philosophy-and-the-social-web-5583083

The slidecast is a bit long as a result, but that is because it covers a
lot:

  - The current Social Networking/Data Silo/Centralisation issue
  - Web Architecture
  - The Semantic Web basics, how it works
  - Issues of Reference
  - How those tie in to the Philosophy of Language
  - Semweb and Philosophy of Mind
  - Psychology

The theme that cuts through the whole presentation is the importance of the
network
effect. That is the key point which I believe answers the skeptical questiion of
how can this get going, how can it work?

The hope is that the above should give a very big picture of what something
like
Clerezza is able to achieve, and why this project is very important, both
politically
and technically.

For those who do not like flash the slides are also available in PDF
and ODP format here http://bblfish.net/tmp/2010/10/26/
