I have not build yet an embedded system, but I think that building BusyBox 
with all features enables and looking the installed binaries you could deduce 
what packages are replaced.

It means that I'm the *LFS book's sources maintainer. That is, the guy that 
dictates what DocBook XML features are used to write the books, and that 
creates the XSL stylesheets needed to render the HTML and PDF outputs.

I'm also the maintainer of jhalfs, but that's another story.
