Hey Don,

There is a ticket to enable UTF-8 support in CLFS 1.20. Part of this means using --enable-widec
for ncurses and replacing the non-wide characters with it.

The ticket is here: http://trac.cross-lfs.org/ticket/182

I might have a look into doing some of this over the weekend.

Jon~

Greets,

I just happened across an installer (vmware's) which requests libncursesw.so.5

Checking LFS ncurses build, these libs are built/installed as consequence of using the '--enable-widec' configure switch, which we don't actually do in CLFS.

Fortunately speaking, the wide-char ncurses libs are name disparate from the CLFS ncurses build, and it was an easy enough workaround to have both variants
of ncurses libs installed to satisfy the installer's/package make-up.

Would this perhaps be fodder for CLFS-1.2.0 ??

Regards,

Don
