I'm thinking we need to have the pkg-config files installed in
/usr/lib/pkgconfig and /usr/lib64/pkgconfig and not
/usr/share/pkgconfig for each build.
We can do a mv command or edit the sharepkgconfigdir variable in
configure.

i've got a feeling that the architecture independent files go in
xxx/share/pkgconfig , whereas those that are dependant go in
xxx/lib{,64}/pkgconfig
does that make sense ?
