I think you said you had 4GB of memory - my experience with PC motherboards is that the manufacturers don't expect anyone to use anything like the maximum possible amount of RAM, and doing so can lead to instability. On the mobo I'm using for my server with 4x512Mb it's unstable at DDR200 but fine at DDR166 (but if I fit any two of the memory sticks, it's stable at DDR200).
