And you didn't answer the alternative, although you appear to disagree with my assertion (hint - keep a note of what you copy, so that you can delete it after the test). I'm biting my tongue because I've seen so many past LFS problems where people have been told "don't build from slackware" and I don't think that is a valid suggestion for CLFS, but throwing a part of your bash_history at me is not putting you in my good books. Maybe, there _is_ a problem in the book, and if so I'm keen to see it fixed. Maybe you'd prefer to deal with the different suggestions being thrown at you one-at-a-time, which is fine and I'll be reading the list even if you put my questions at the bottom of your list of things to try :) From here, you seem to have slipped into building multilib, which normally is avoided by using the full set of patches and seds in the chapter.
