Hey, all,

I'm really enjoying the clfs book so far and finding it very well explained
and easy to follow.

I'm having some trouble with section 5, "Constructing Cross-Compile Tools".
My problem becomes obvious in sub-section 5.4.1, but I suspect it relates
back to an omission somewhere earlier. I'm pretty sure I followed the
directions thus far, and I re-read the preceding chapters to be sure, but I
don't see where I strayed.

The specific bash command

cp -av include/asm-i386 /tools/include/asm

is given, but I'm not sure where this source directory (include/asm) is
supposed to be. The book isn't explicit what directory I'm to be in at this
point, although having done

su clfs

, I am in

/home/clfs

by default and there is no

include

directory here. My host machine has a

/usr/include

directory. Is that the one I'm copying? I also have a

/tools/include

directory at this point, but there's no

asm-i386

directory in there to copy from. If I unpack the
linux-2.6.17.13.tar.bz2that I downloaded as per instructions, then
there appears to be an

include

direcory in there as well. But the book has made no mention of unpacking any
of the downloaded packages at this point and I wouldn't know where to unpack
them to. Perhaps ${CLFS}? Or is it ${CLFS}/tools? Or ${CLFS}/cross-tools?

Can somebody please clarify this for me?

Sorry about all the line breaks, gmail seems to insist when using
fixed-width font.
