Dear CLFS members,

Some of you may know me from IRC, some of you may not. My name is
Estevão Becker, I'm from Brazil - São Paulo and I use the alias
'icmp.request', and previously used the alias 'net_priest' on IRC.
Although I had some issues on IRC I decided to continue on *LFS and to
begin to participate of mailing lists, and I may add it is already a
great pleasure to be on CLFS mailing list. I am more into LFS than into
CLFS by the simple reason I still didn't get time to take a better look
on CLFS, but as soon as I finish my LFS install and make some BLFS
install/procedures I'll be on it. It's taking a long time to finish my
LFS installation because I'm making a full-automated bash script for its
installation. I'm not really following 100% the LFS book but seems until
now I'm having success so...heheheheh. It seems the Linux system is up
to come will have a touch of LFS, a touch of CLFS and a touch of my
specific method, it will be fun to see what I'll get! :)

Well, I am really not in the mood of trying to use the latest kernel and
its raw headers as lfs-svn book proposes; until you guys decide if they
are sane enough or not I prefer to stick to the CLFS one and also use
its sanitized headers. The problem about this is that I plan on using
bootsplash to make my *LFS more beautiful, and bootsplash has only
patches for 2.6.20 and 2.6.21 kernels, but seems to not have any patch
specifically for 2.6.20.1 . So seems I have 2 options, either to
downgrade to 2.6.20 or to upgrade to 2.6.21 . Anyway if I do that I will
need new sanitized headers, as I prefer even not using bootsplash than
trying the raw kernel ones. So I have some simple questions:

- Has anyone tried to apply the 2.6.20 bootsplash patch in 2.6.20.1
kernel? Maybe it works without any problem... :P
- If it doesn't work or you think it wouldn't work, is it a good idea to
downgrade to 2.6.20 or upgrade to 2.6.21? Or should I, in your opinion,
just stick to 2.6.20.1 and forget about bootsplashing?
- If you think I could downgrade or upgrade the kernel I will use with
post-*LFS, do you know where I can find sanitized headers for 2.6.20
and/or 2.6.21? (as svn has the 2.6.20.1 ones)

Thank you very much in advance, and even not being really into CLFS yet
I hope I can make some contributions now or in the near future. So if
you need help with anything, just tell me! :)

Regards,
