userlevel : pros - userspace debugging, flexibilty of driver used, no kernel modifications cons - slowest
kernel : pros - very fast, little or no extra overheads cons - kernel modifications required, e1000 or e1000e or ixgbe drivers only available (search the mailing list for refs to the last two) , limited kernel versions supported , tricky to debug. kernel (patchless - MUST use current git sources) pros - faster than user space, no kernel patch required, not limited to a specific version, not limited to a specific driver cons - not complete yet (FromDevice missing ?) , tricky to debug.
