There was a brief discussion about this in the Kioo issue tracker (I thought it was kioo causing the warnings as I first saw them after using kioo) and I believe it happens when you use the latest version of React with Om. Om itself is packaged with a slightly older version of React, so if you start a new project as you did, it makes sense that you wouldn't see the warnings.
