Thanks Linus.  I *was* confused about what Reagent is doing and when.  That 
link is very helpful, as are other pages in the cookbook.  I hadn't yet found 
the cookbook.  It's what I needed, I think.  No, I had no idea that I had to 
wrap d3 code.  That makes sense; each system has its own model for manipulating 
the DOM.
