I created a little lein dynamic eval code to automatically handle the
:jvm-opts stuff for Java 8/9/10:

 :jvm-opts #=(eval (let [version-str (System/getProperty "java.version")]
                     (cond
                       (re-find #"^9\." version-str) ["-Xmx1g"
"--add-modules" "java.xml.bind"]
                       (= "10" version-str) ["-Xmx1g"
"--add-modules" "java.xml.bind"]
                       :else ["-Xmx1g"])))
