A Toolforge tool is currently the recommended (and only!) way to get user credentials for accessing the wiki replicas and tools db. If you have some old data files or something laying around on Toolforge that you are not using do clean those up. Otherwise, Toolforge accounts are "cheap" for the movement and for the Toolforge admins.
