Definitely in favor of keeping it on Apache infra. My preference is to
keep community planning discussions on -dev for now, but I'd like to
hear from other folks if they find it helpful or distracting to have the
events discussions on this list.

I agree, keep it on this list until it proves that we have a sufficient number of events and a large number of mail entries that are distracting. For now I think things work as they are.
